Mobiles/Hanging objects
Some centers have security systems that go off when anything is hanging. How is this addressed on the ITERS (#5)?
Could they hang something 3-D from under an upper cabinet, like over the sink or changing table? Could they adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensor, or take the things down each evening?
Unfortunately, there will be some indicators that won't be met due to an individual center's circumstances. In these instances the center will have to decide what is most feasible or most important. One example is that some centers choose to keep round door knobs and take a hit on item 1 indicators 3.5 and/or 5.3 because these door knobs are more difficult for the children to open. In this particular case they will have to decide whether it is more important to keep their security system the way it is or more important to meet this one indicator. I think it is important to remind the centers that they will not be able to meet every indicator all the time.
